Stances


Fixed stance (gojung sogi)
- Width: One (1) inch (back heel of rear foot -to-Inside heel of front foot)
- Length: 1 1/2 shoulder width (Inside of big toe on rear foot-to-Big toe of front foot)
- Weight Distribution: 50:50
- Right/Left: Name for the front foot
Notes: The practitioner stands with feet positioned as a capital “L” with the weight distributed evenly.
The rear foot is turned forward 15 degrees while the front foot is turned inward the same amount (15 degrees).

Closed ready stance type “A” (moa junbi sogi)
- Width: None
- Length: None
- Weight Distribution: 50:50
Notes: The practitioner stands with feet together and parallel to one another. The right hand is closed into a fist with the fingertips of the left hand placed upon the knuckles of the right fist. The hands are held at the level of the practitioner’s philtrum and approximately 12 inches from the same.


Bending ready stance “A” (guburyo junbi sogi)

- Right/Left: Named for the supporting foot.
Notes: The practitioner stands on one (1) leg with the knee bent. The non-supporting knee points in 15 degrees from the front while the foot is positioned at the level of the anterior knee joint of the supporting leg.
The arms are positioned to form/execute a middle guarding block with the outer forearm.

Balance Training
Starting from an open parallel stance, demonstrate balancing on one-leg while holding a side piercing kick to A/B at waist level for fifteen (15) seconds.
The practitioner shall illustrate a solid balanced stance throughout the exercise. Demonstrate the exercise with both legs.

Demonstrate three (3) pressure point attacks to the head against an attacking opponent.

Competition Attendance
Tournament competition is a requirement at this level. Practitioners must compete in a minimum of one (1) event. While patterns or breaking competition is recommended, participation in sparring competition fully satisfies this requirement.

Green signifies the plant’s growth as the Taekwon-Do skill begins to develop.
Eight (8) Examples of Poor Integrity
- The instructor who misrepresents himself and his art by presenting improper techniques to his students because of a lack of knowledge or apathy.
- The student who misrepresents himself by “fixing” breaking materials before a demonstration.
- The instructor who camouflages bad techniques with luxurious training halls and false flattery to his students.
- The student who requests rank from an instructor or attempts to purchase it.
- The student who gains rank for ego purposes or the feeling of power.
- The instructor who teaches and promotes his art for materialistic gains.
- The student whose actions do not live up to their words.
- The student who feels ashamed to seek opinions from his juniors.
